Your dog barks, lunges, or growls on walks

You want a humane plan based on behavior science
If this sounds like you, an initial consult will give you clarity, safety strategies, and a realistic roadmap.
Reactive behavior is usually a sign of stress, fear, or frustration—not stubbornness or dominance. Using pain, startle, or intimidation may suppress the behavior in the moment, but it often increases anxiety and can make reactivity worse over time.
The Reactivity Zones Approach™ (RZA) offers something different from traditional reactivity training. RZA is a humane, skills-based framework based on decades of positive dog training experience in the real world. It is a methodology that takes your dog's perspective seriously, supports the life you actually lead, and heals reactivity from a place of genuine ease and connection.
During your in-person consultation, we will go over you and your dog in depth. We will investigate your dog's specific triggers and behaviors and put together a game plan based on the innovative Reactivity Zones approach.
Once your consultation is complete, our Reactive Rehab package will provide a clear, straightforward road map towards a more harmonious relationship with your dog.
We’ll review your dog’s history, daily routine, and specific reactive moments to pinpoint what sets them off and why. You will learn to read your dog's body language like an expert. We;ll go through the three Reactivity Zones together, and you'll learn how to identify which one your dog is in at any given moment.
We will put immediate steps in place to keep you and your dog safe and grant immediate relief from the stress of reactive episodes. We'll put a comprehensive plan in place to help you and your dog bring peace, joy, and comfort back into your lives.
We'll teach you and your dog the skills you need to move through the Reactivity Zones. These skills are easy to learn and simple to implement - but result in real, lasting changes in your dog's emotional state. We don't just teach your dog to tolerate their triggers. We aim to help your dog enjoy life around their triggers.

Reactive behavior is complex and tied to your dog’s emotions and past experiences. These behaviors can take a long time to truly heal. No reactivity can be "fixed" in six sessions. What we can promise is that you will see the beginning of real, lasting, sustainable behavior change by the time you are through with your package. We can promise that you will leave your training package with the tools and skills to support your dog into the future.
True aggression is different from reactivity. If your dog has a bite history, we will go over your dog's situation in detail. In cases of true aggression, we may refer you to a certified veterinary behaviorist.
We typically recommend a well-fitted harness, a standard 6-foot leash, a clicker, and plenty of soft, high-value treats. If you’re already using special equipment, we’ll discuss whether it’s still appropriate.
Yes, absolutely. Anyone who regularly walks or lives with your dog is welcome to join.
Reactivity is a complex problem that requires understanding and input from the dog's guardian. Our Reactivity Zones approach is based around hands-on skills for both you and your dog. Day training is unfortunately not an option here, as success is dependent on you and your dog working together as a team.
